Winner of a 1999 Mayor’s Arts Award, Dance Gallery is a collaborative non-profit dance company that has performed since 1991. With members from Whatcom and Skagit counties, the group creates an arts community that welcomes all levels and ages to choreograph, perform and teach modern dance.

Founded in 1991, Dance Gallery is honored to have received the Mayor’s Arts Award as well as grants from the Washington State Arts Commission, the Horizons Foundation, the Bossack-Heilbron Charitable Foundation, and a residency from Centrum. Dance Gallery has been invited to perform at events such as Bumbershoot, First Night Tacoma, 12 Minutes Max, Seattle Fringe Festival, and the Allegro series and at locations around the state and Canada including Seattle, Olympia, Friday Harbor, Orcas Island and Vancouver Island.
The company has commissioned more than 50 new works by regional, national and international choreographers. Dance Gallery’s repertory includes six pieces by Seattle choreographer Wade Madsen, four pieces by nationally known choreographer Bill Evans, and four pieces by renowned Ecuadoran choreographer Pablo Cornejo. In addition, the group has premiered works from former company members of internationally known dance companies such as the Jose Limon and Ralph Lemon companies, and from faculty of Cornish College of the Arts, Mills College, Gustavus Adolphus College and Washington, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico state universities.
